Our First Mud Run Together March 2013

This is a great shot taken by the photographer at the Rogue Runner race my son and I did recently. I had to share. I ran my race first and then they took this shot. Before my son got wet and dirty doing the kids run. We would have each had our own medals then. It was a great time. The first of many we shall do together. Soon enough my son will be running the adult races with dad.

The Night Run 2013

     Tonight I had a chance to run a race that was set up by a friend of mine. She had run The Night Run a few times and then took over as race director. She invited me to come out and race. I was in attendance with my 6 year old son, Julian.
     At the beginning of the race, my son was running. He ran for a bit and when he got tired he jumped into the jogging stroller and dad took over. I managed to weave through a bunch of people and catch up to the leader of the pack. We ran together for about the first half of the race. After that, I started to pull away and we lead from there on. We were slowly pulling away from the pack. I could sense someone coming up on my heals though so I kept pushing.
     As we came up to the end of the race I had Julian jump out and run towards the finish line. I let my little man break the tape and he was so excited. He was presented out metal. We scored 1st place overall and 1st male finisher in the 5k. I do have to thank my little man for training with me. We run together quite often. With the same set up with him in the stroller and dad the work horse. More races to come.
